Biscayne Bay Ultimate Boat Tour with Kayak Experience review

Ultimate Biscayne review
My verdict: this is the cheapest Raccoon Island tour and the most family-friendly. You boat out, then kayak a leg through mangroves near the island. It’s a hybrid that gives you the island and water activity without the full paddling commitment. At $74, rated 4.7 from 329 reviews, it’s the best value.

What the tour is like

You start on a boat cruise through Biscayne Bay toward the island area. The boat ride introduces you to the bay, and you may see dolphins or manatees. Once near the island, the guide has you transfer to kayaks. You paddle through the mangroves in a scenic, protected channel — not open water, but scenic and manageable. Kim said it was the best thing she and her family did in Miami; their daughter loved it. Tomás praised the mangrove kayaking as nice and the Raccoon Island experience as memorable. Adam enjoyed kayaking amongst the islands with friendly guides. The kayak section is shorter than the SUP paddle tour, making it accessible to families. You then return to the boat for the ride back. By the end, you’ve kayaked, seen the island, and spent 4–4.5 hours on and in the water without being soaked.

Insider tip

Book this if you want value and variety. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and water shoes — the kayak section means wet feet. Book morning slots in November through May for calmer conditions. Kids 5+ handle this well; younger kids may struggle with the kayak leg. The friendly guides make a difference; this tour is as much about people as it is about the sights.

Who it’s for

Families with kids. Budget-conscious tourists who want a full experience. Couples who want both boating and paddling but not all-out paddling. Visitors who want the island and water without the extreme paddle fitness needed for the SUP tour. Not for you if: you want advanced paddling or the lowest price overall. The SUP paddle ($99) is more intense paddling. Want even cheaper? The Celebrity Mansions is $99 with no kayaking needed. Learn more in the complete guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is $74 really the full price?

Yes. $74 per person covers the boat, kayak, guide, and the full 4–4.5 hour tour. Lunch not included; eat before or after. A 15% tip is customary and not included.

Will my kid be okay on this tour?

Kim’s daughter loved it. Kids 5+ with water comfort do well. Under 5 might struggle with the kayak leg. The guides are friendly and experienced with families.

How much paddling is there?

Mangrove kayaking is shorter and easier than the open-bay SUP paddle. Tomás found it nice. It’s not extreme, but you do paddle. Bring water shoes.

What if I want to see the raccoons?

You get close to the Raccoon Island area via the bay tour. Tomás said the experience was memorable. It’s not as intimate as the Wildlife Adventure tour, but it’s real.
